Track Name: Hell Yeah
Hell yeah
It's quittin' time
Hell yeah
Comin' off the line
Now you and I
Got a lot to talk about
Why don't you come on by
We can just hang out

Hell yeah
You can stay a while
Hell yeah
I love to see you smile
We can drink a beer
We can watch TV
I don't care what's on
When you're here with me

And when the evening turns to night
If you want to love me that's all right

Hell yeah
You can spend the night
Hell yeah
Let's turn out the light
Cause I can see
By the light you shine
If you never leave
That would suit me fine

Hell yeah
Hell yeah
Hell yeah
Hell yeah
Track Name: The Rust Belt Riviera
The snow was so deep it blocked out the sun
The mailmen weren’t deliverin’
I let out my dog so he could pee
But he just stood there shiverin’
When I was a boy the drifts were so deep
(But I was shorter then)
We wouldn’t go to school cause we couldn’t guarantee
We’d make it back home again

But now the ground is hard and bare
Like walking on cast iron
The ice is black and the roads are slick
But there ain’t no denyin’

That the sun shines more than it used to do
In this global warming era
It’s a balmy 35 degrees
On the Rust Belt Riviera

Yeah sometimes storms still bury us
Deep and white and pure
I think those mounds of snow are cars
Though I can not be sure
Sometimes its even cold enough to allow
An occasional ice skater
But I know this winter postcard scene
Will be melted three days later

The slush in the puddles is six inches deep
My socks always need dryin’
It’s not exactly spring but it’s just as wet
And there ain’t no denyin’

That the sun shines more than it used to do
In this global warming era
It’s a balmy 35 degrees
On the Rust Belt Riviera

There’s some extreme northwestern towns
Where it is always rainin’
And places up north where the sun never shines
So I am not complainin’

But the sun shines more than it used to do
In this global warming era
It’s a balmy 35 degrees
On the Rust Belt Riviera
Track Name: On the Road Back Home
I listened to the pines in the midnight breeze
Heard the mermaids singing in wine-dark seas
Suffered from desires that nobody could appease
On the road back home

Saw the sun goin’ down over Xanadu
Stumbled into jungles that no blade could cut through
And after seeing all of that I’m comin’ back to you
On the road back home

[chorus]
Been gone so long
And I don’t know why
Seen every land
Underneath the sky
But I’ve had enough
Of being alone
So I set my feet
On the road back home

Shivered in the cold of the great divide
Begged for solace but was cast aside
Looked in all directions but I couldn’t decide
On the road back home

Wandered in the desert seeking truth and lies
Desperate to penetrate the world’s disguise
At the end I find myself to my surprise
On the road back home

[chorus]

Lived in pueblos and bungalows, been loved, ignored and opposed
Broken down, naked to the world, every fear exposed
I’ve eaten figs from the garden of the palace of the Queen of Dreams
She offered me gifts but nothing there is what it seems

So I’m ridin’ in the cabin of a big jet plane
Spent my last dollar but I won’t complain
It’s so good to be coming back again
On the road back home
Track Name: Don't Keep Me Waiting
Say something
I know you’re in there somewhere
But I can’t see past your eyes
Do something
Even though I don’t know
If I really think that’s wise

Don’t keep me in suspense
Don’t keep me hanging here
I can’t hold my breath no more

Don’t keep me waiting for a word
How much longer must I wait
Don’t keep me waiting for my fate
Don’t leave me twisting in the wind
This not knowing’s killing me
Don’t make me wait in misery

I’m sorry
I said those things I said
I just wanted a reaction
You know me
I’m a jackass and I
Will not give you satisfaction

Don’t keep me in suspense
Don’t keep me hanging here
I can’t hold my breath no more

Don’t keep me waiting for a word
How much longer must I wait
Don’t keep me waiting for my fate
Don’t leave me twisting in the wind
This not knowing’s killing me
Don’t make me wait in misery
Track Name: Let Me Dance with the Devil One More TIme
Well loving you’s a place I never should have traveled to
But I was lost and far away from home
And after all my wanderings when I discovered you
It was easy to forget where I came from

Was it my sin to want you when I needed help to stand
Did that old devil whisper in my ear
Was I wrong to listen when I heard my heart’s demand
When I set out on the trail that left me here

I know it’s time to walk that straight and narrow road
Too much sorrow, time to pay what’s owed
But I can’t just turn my face away from this sweet and tender crime
Let me dance with the devil one more time

I miss the places where we’d meet each other all unknown
Hidden in the shadows holding true
As this city darkens I find my self alone
Roaming through the streets in search of you

I know it’s time to walk that straight and narrow road
Too much sorrow, time to pay what’s owed
But I can’t just turn my face away from this sweet and tender crime
Let me dance with the devil one more time

I never thought that I would go astray
But the devil took the hindmost and now it’s judgment day

I know it’s time to walk that straight and narrow road
Too much sorrow, time to pay what’s owed
But I can’t just turn my face away from this sweet and tender crime
Let me dance with the devil one more time
Track Name: Have You Seen Me?
Maybe you walked in the house one day
And I wasn't there where you expected
As the hours went by, did you start to worry
How long before you finally suspected

Maybe I'm sitting in a bar somewhere
With a stranger I met on the road
In a city where nobody knows my name
Waiting for the world to explode

[chorus]
Have you seen me
Have you seen me
Do you know where I am
Do you know where I've been
Have you seen me
Do you know me
Will it ever be time to begin
Searching

Maybe you've seen me on cable TV
Late at night when you were half awake
Are you wondering whether you dreamed it all
Or was it just another weary mistake

Maybe you scan all the faces in the crowd
When you walk down a midday street
Are you sure you would even recognize me now
Are your memories really that complete

[chorus]

[bridge]
Maybe I'm somewhere waiting for a ride
To another town farther along
Maybe I never even think of you
except when I sing this song

Maybe I'm here and watching you right now
From a window across the way
Maybe I'm trying to get up the nerve
To come over and ask if I can stay

Maybe this never even crosses your mind
As you stumble from place to place to place
Maybe you forget when you wake from your dreams
That you ever knew my face

[chorus]
Searching…
Track Name: Submarine Slumbering
Lights moving in the lonely hour
A glimmer just outside my view
A hint of changeless memory
Time vanishes in deepest blue

A whisper from some other world
Sounds travel in the quiet tide
My shape becomes me, strange and true
All currents end where I divide

Submarine slumbering

Come lie with me below the shore
Come drift away from shallow days
This castle opens up to you
And leads inside a deeper maze

Submarine slumbering
Track Name: The Mad Cowboy Blues
Got an ache in my heart
And holes in my brain
And one or the other
It makes me insane
It’s hunger or heartbreak
So what can I do
One way or the other
I’m one messed up buckaroo

[chorus]
I’ve got the mad cowboy blues
Just like on the TV news
I’ve got the mad cowboy blues
Ain’t got no mind left to lose

I’m tall in the saddle
And soft in the head
I might should be ropin’
But I’m mopin’ instead
I ride on the range
Majestic and free
With bovine spongiform
Encephalopathy

[chorus]

when I’m out on the trail
I’m not sure I know
Quite what I’m doin'
Which way should I go

It’s a cruel twist of fate
Almost beyond belief
That I got this condition
From good American beef
I would not have to suffer
This terrible disease
If I’d listened to my buddies
And gone out for Chinese

I’ve got the mad cowboy blues
I’m pretty easy to confuse
I’ve got the mad cowboy blues
Forgot how to tie my shoes
[repeat chorus]
I got the mad… cowboy blues
Track Name: Guantanamo Vacation
You say you're doing nothing wrong
So you say
You think we care you said so all along
So you say
You know we cannot take the risk
Not today
So make it easy and confess
Run away, child’s play
So you say so you say so you say

Guantanamo Vacation,
Under the lazy tropic sun
When all you've got's a bullet, everything looks like a gun
So here’s what we believe
In Guantanamo, you'll never want to leave
In Guantanamo, you'll never never never never never want to leave

Uh what's this talk about a trial
No offense
Uh well we'll have to issue a denial
No offense
There's simple people living out there
No offense
And you've given them a mighty scare
No offense is no defense
No offense no offense no offense

Guantanamo Vacation,
Our lovely Caribbean home
Can you keep a secret, between you me and the drone
Don’t wait for a reprieve
In Guantanamo, you'll never want to leave
In Guantanamo, you'll never never never never never want to leave

It doesn’t matter what you did or didn’t do
Someone did it, might as well be you

I guess maybe we’re naïve, but
In Guantanamo, you'll never want to leave
In Guantanamo, you'll never never never never never want to leave
In Guantanamo, you'll never never never never never want to leave...
Track Name: Downtown Plasma Days
Your beloved city fathers
Would like to offer you
The bargain of a lifetime
For at least a day or two
As a red-blooded American
It’s your civic obligation
To support your local merchants
They're the lifeblood of our nation…

If you were into red cells
Before they were cool
And now it seems like everyone's
A hemoglobin’ fool
There’s another kind of fluid
That everyone ignores
It’s an aqueous solution
To that problem of yours

[chorus]
At Downtown Plasma Days
Downtown Plasma Days
We’ll set you up in style
Your friends will be amazed
At the change in your demeanor
At the end of your malaise
So come on down and get stocked up
At Downtown Plasma Days

If you manufacture white cells
Like they’re going out of style
But now you’ve got so many
That it hardly seems worthwhile
And platelets aren’t so great
You’re craving something new
Be the envy of your neighbors
Have we got a fluid for you
[chorus]

[interlude]
Come to Plasma Boutique,
If you're kind a freak
Artisanal plasma,
It's got a mystique

So if you're feeling peaked,
And you can't produce a clot
Let us help, we’ve got plasma,
Everybody needs a shot

[chorus]

But we must not neglect
Our less fortunate friends
On a limited budget
Your money still spends
So if you’re needing plasma
But you have to make do
You have not been forgotten
Plasma Outlet’s for you!

One more time!
[chorus]
2-4-6-8, come down and coagulate
at Downtown… Plasma… Days!
Track Name: The Lair of the Griggstown Cow
The word was all over the Millstone Valley
She was haunting the banks of the Delaware Canal
And the rumors were flying from Heathcote to Manville
And the whole Franklin Township locale

In the back yards the voices of children were stilled
And they vanished from swing set and climber and slide,
Play structures abandoned like the ruins of Carthage
As their unsettled parents made them play inside

[You had better watch out in that part of the woods
You'd think it's the suburbs now
But without any warning you may find yourself trapped
In the lair of the Griggstown Cow

You could see her at dusk sometimes from the causeway
Like a black and white ghost in the last of the gloaming
The whole Princeton Highlands was worried and wary
When the Griggstown Cow went on her nocturnal roaming

Intrepid explorers went seeking the legend
All pimped out with digital camera and cell
But the service was spotty and the lighting was iffy
And the pictures too blurred to convincingly tell

You had better watch out in that part of the woods
You'd think it's the suburbs now
But without any warning you may find yourself trapped
In the lair of the Griggstown Cow

The place they called Griggstown, in the 2000 census
Being said to comprise about 800 souls,
Was a bedroom community swallowed by dread
Over cattle that somehow escaped their controls

And down in the bottoms and bends of the Millstone
Sometimes if you're out there, quietly canoeing
You could hear in the distance the blood chilling sound
Of a terrible, eerie, unnatural mooing

You had better watch out in that part of the woods
You'd think it's the suburbs now
But without any warning you may find yourself trapped
In the lair of the Griggstown Cow
Track Name: The Meteorite Mangled the Malibu
Michelle’s new car
A bright red Chevy
Who knew the loss
Could be so heavy

Death from above
From outside our ken
Vertical accident
It was quiet and then

The meteorite mangled the Malibu
The meteorite mangled the Malibu
No one believes, but I’m telling you
The meteorite mangled the Malibu

Just another day
Around her place
But it’s not so quiet
Out there in space

It’s a hostile realm
Where comets graze
Orbital debris
And cosmic rays

Something opened
A hole in the sky
And punched her car
She doesn’t know why

[break]

The meteorite mangled the Malibu
The meteorite mangled the Malibu
No one believes, but I’m telling you
The meteorite mangled the Malibu

No one heard
The sky god’s laughter
Destruction reigned
The sound came after

The meteorite mangled the Malibu
The meteorite mangled the Malibu
No one believes, but I promise you
The meteorite mangled the Malibu
Track Name: Bird Fall Down
End of the day in a darkening time
Wind from the west across the dry grass
Sun in my eyes, alcohol skies
Flash of a motion against the glass

Bird fall down
Bird fall down
Bird fall down
Fall down

Everything moves, everything climbs
Hanging from heaven, it all depends
Breath of a moment, held hard within
Gathering weight, and that’s where it ends

Bird fall down
Bird fall down
Bird fall down
Fall down

The world looks up
Out through the air
More than we know
Moving up there

Bird fall down
Bird fall down
Bird fall down
Fall down
Track Name: 14 Songs
The first one came easy; I just sat down and wrote,
I pointed a mic at myself and I sang
Playing was effortless; nailed every note,
Every strum, every cadence, and closed with a bang

On the second I soared in sheer inspiration,
A lilting and limpid and sorrowful waltz
I captured humanity's essence in song,
Eternally striving, transcending our faults

14 songs, 14 songs, 14 songs
I thought that I had what it took but I night have been wrong
14 songs, 14 songs, 14 songs
Why did I think that I wanted to write 14 songs?

Number 3 was just labored and dull from the start
I'm embarrassed I posted that scurrilous shite
Number 4 was a clever idea at the start
But somehow came out disappointingly trite

Song number 5 was just punk guitar noise
The last fumbling hope of a desperate man
Number 6 was a delicate wisp of a tune
About loss and regret and and the lack of a plan

14 songs, 14 songs, 14 songs
I thought that I knew what to do, I just had to be strong
14 songs, 14 songs, 14 songs
Why did I think that I wanted to write 14 songs?

7 and 8 were a conceptually linked
One was a love song, devoted and pure
The second subverted the words of the first
Nasty and cynical, hard to endure

Song number 9 was an improvisation
Hour after hour the lines tumbled out
The images took on a life of their own
But I never quite got what that song was about

Song number 10 was an odd instrumental...
I took a week off at this point to unwind
Song 11 might be the sound of me losing my mind...

This is song 12, it keeps me awake
But at night in the darkness it seems very clear
I'm writing the lyrics, haven't thought of a tune
Just hoping to finish before the ideas disappear

Maybe song 13 will come out a nice minuet
I haven't quite figured out how to write that one yet
14 came to me on the wings of a dream...
Track Name: Hobart Tasmania
Hobart Tasmania
was a really nice man
Hobart Tasmania
he drove a sedan
Hobart Tasmania
I cannot deny
Hobart Tasmania
was a real standup guy

Hobart
Hobart Tasmania
Stand that man a beer
